This was one of the earliest images I did using Photoshop. It illustrates a story I wrote in which the starship New Hope (the dome-shaped affair in the foreground) lands on an icy comet in order to take on "conversion mass." That's water to you and me, the idea being that if you could somehow convert ordinary stuff directly into energy according to the famous equation you wouldn't need to haul around a lot of antimatter or unleaded gasoline. By the way: In a recent invasion movie the aliens are here to steal our water, apparently too dumb to realize that the universe is littered with snowballs free for the taking.
